CULTURE – Uncertainty reigns. The singer Slimane is announced on the stage of the 26th edition of NRJ Music Awardsthis Friday, November 1st. But his arrival is still uncertain on the eve of the ceremony at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès in Cannes, while the artist is accused of sexual harassment by a technician during a concert in Saint-Étienne.
In a joint press release from TF1 and NRJ, sent to the press on Wednesday October 29, Slimane appears in the list of artists present. The 35-year-old singer is nominated as French-speaking male artist of the year and French-speaking song of 2024, for My lovethe song that allowed him to reach the foot of the Eurovision podium in May.
Behind the scenes, hypotheses are flying
According to information from Parisianthe conductor of the show remains unchanged for the moment: Slimane must come and sing his title. Behind the scenes, however, there are hypotheses such as the cancellation of his appearance on stage or his withdrawal from nominations.
“Even though there is this complaint, he remains presumed innocent. Now, if he decides not to come, production will adapt”explains a TF1 executive to our colleagues. While a person from the technical teams in Cannes states: “The few people from TF1 Prod (which produces the evening) look very pissed off. We hear everything and its opposite said about his coming. »
If he maintains his participation in the NJR Music Awards, Slimane must go to Cannes this Thursday, October 31 for rehearsals, indicate our colleagues.
Revealed by the telecrochet The Voice on TF1 which he won in 2016, Slimane was at the top, during his duo with the singer Vitaa, in the album sales ranking in France in 2020 with their opus Versus. Their title It goes it comes allowed them to win a Victoire de la Musique that year in the original song category.
