Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Ohio Senator JD Vance went head-to-head in the vice presidential debate on Tuesday night, which is looking likely to be the last debate of this election cycle.
Former President Donald Trump has made clear that he has no intention of participating in a second presidential debate with Vice President Kamala Harris.
In a Truth Social post late on Tuesday, Trump wrote: “Lyin’ Kamala just put out a request for another Debate because they lost so badly tonight—Again, it’s like the fighter who lost, gets up and says, ‘I WANT A REMATCH.’ I beat Biden, I then beat her, and I’m not looking to do it again, too far down the line.”
Newsweek reached out to the Trump and Harris campaigns for comment via email outside of regular working hours.
Trump and Harris faced off in a debate on September 10 which Harris was widely declared to have won, according to various media outlets and polls.

During the debate, Harris put Trump on the defensive and baited him with taunts about his crowd sizes and record as president.
The former president produced a few viral moments, specifically a false claim about Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, eating people’s cats and dogs.
That debate was a starkly different experience for Trump compared with the one with President Joe Biden on June 27, during which the president delivered such a shaky performance that it led to him dropping out of the race.
Just days after his debate with Harris, Trump announced that he would not debate her again.
Harris accepted CNN’s invitation for a second debate, which Trump declined, arguing that he had already done two debates.
Trump has also pulled out of a 60 Minutes special which would have featured him and Harris in separate interviews.
On Tuesday, 60 Minutes said that while both candidates’ campaigns had agreed to sit down and be interviewed for the election special, Trump’s campaign has now “decided not to participate.”
“For over half a century, 60 Minutes has invited the Democratic and Republican tickets to appear on our broadcast as Americans head to the polls,” the program said.
The special will still air with an interview with Harris across October 7 and 8, and the program noted that the invitation for Trump to participate still stands.
The vice presidential debate between Tim Walz and JD Vance was always scheduled to be the only one between the running mates.
