THE brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher announced at the end of August that they were reforming their legendary group for a tour, fifteen years after their shattering separation.
4% of tickets concerned
Fans flocked on August 31 to buy tickets for the concerts but this quest for tickets turned into chaos, with endless waiting lists and malfunctions of official sales sites, notably on Ticketmaster, a giant in ticket sales. .
Fans had been warned that tickets purchased on unofficial resale sites could be canceled. According to the organizers, 4% of tickets, or thousands of tickets, ended up on these sites.
“The ticketing agencies Ticketmaster and See Tickets will begin in the coming weeks to cancel tickets which have not complied with the general conditions of sale put in place for the tour”said a spokesperson for the organizers on Monday. “Review of ticket sales is underway”he clarified.
Resale by Ticketmaster
“Canceled tickets will be re-on sale in due course through the official Ticketmaster agency. More information on this will be communicated soon »he added.
“All parties involved in the tour continue to urge fans not to purchase tickets from unauthorized sites, as some of them may be fraudulent and others subject to cancellation”warned this spokesperson.
By August 31, tickets had reached several hundred euros, even thousands of euros, on unofficial resale sites.
Furthermore, the British competition authority has opened an investigation against Ticketmaster, for having practiced “dynamic pricing”which caused ticket prices to skyrocket well beyond the prices initially displayed.
The band, founded in 1991, will play their hometown of Manchester next summer, as well as Cardiff, London, Edinburgh and Dublin. They will then tour the United States, Canada and Australia.
