In a context in which Mexico maintains the attention of major world capitals due to its proximity to the United States, taking advantage of the wave of nearshoring It is essential to face challenges in the short term.
Thus, it is a priority to have a comprehensive strategy that guarantees the country’s energy supply, at the best possible price, and in the least polluting way.
Let us remember that during her speech when she was sworn in as president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, explained that during her six-year term, the energy transition would be one of the pillars that will accompany her policy, along with its efficient use.
In this sense, the National Energy Plan is crucial to resolve a series of questions about the supply of inputs that will grow rapidly each year in the country, since it is necessary to mention that in addition to the industrial demand for the nearshoringan increase in consumption is expected as a consequence of growing electromobility in all sectors and levels.
Another aspect covered by the plan, which will be presented shortly by Luz Elena González, Secretary of Energy, is that hydrocarbon production will be capped during the six-year term at 1.8 million barrels of crude oil, which will guarantee the supply of inputs. necessary for the production of petroleum products, and will allow the State to have stable planning in operational and financial matters.
Sheinbaum also announced that this plan, which will also have the collaboration of other agencies, contemplates the investment program necessary to modernize and expand the electrical energy transmission and distribution network, the Achilles heel that for six years has not been addressed with the urgency it requires.
Rating agencies and international organizations are expectant about the planning of the energy sector, especially because of the participation that the business sector will have in its execution, and what I anticipate will not be in the sense they expect, but rather it will be joint projects. , anchored to government decisions, well, they will not go “on their own.”
In short, the National Energy Plan will be the road map that Mexico needs for the future, and that will aim to consolidate the objective of controversial energy sovereignty, essential in the Second Floor of the self-proclaimed Fourth Transformation.
Cleaning at Pemex
One of the pillars of the strategy of the new government of Claudia Sheinbaum for Pemex, led by Víctor Rodríguez Padilla as general director, is to guarantee the “technical and managerial competencies and personal values such as integrity”, of all the personnel of the oil.
With this, the new administration of the national oil company recognizes that one of the main obstacles to achieving efficiency goals within it is that it often does not have qualified personnel.
