“Hey! Like Lola! / When I grow up I want to be a singer, singer, artist, the protagonist / Like Taylor, like Karol. I want to be the motomami of my neighborhood. Like Olivia, like the wolf, the Shaki. But universal like the Lola.” These stanzas of your song Like the Lola has taken Chloe delaRosa, only 9 years old, to represent Spain in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest and achieve an impressive sixth place. The “singer” has already become the protagonist, and HELLO! Talk to her to find out how she is experiencing this special moment after the competition, held on November 16 at La Caja Mágica in Madrid.
-Chloe, how are you?
-I am super happy and content! Participating in Junior Eurovision has been a dream for me. I had a great time, I really enjoyed it and I gave it my all on stage.
-Excellent! And you also achieved an incredible sixth place. You must be very proud.
-Yes, I am very happy! Also, sing Like Lola on stage it was amazing. People encouraged me a lot, and I had a great time.. The setting was spectacular.
-Did you get nervous?
-The truth is that not much. But when I finished and walked off stage, I got a little emotional. The boys and girls hugged me and told me that I had done fantastic, and then I went to see my family who was there supporting me… and a few tears escaped my eyes!
-Did you expect to be so well positioned?
-To be honest, no. It was my first festival and I didn’t really know how everything was going to go. My main goal was to enjoy and have a good time.
-The song, Like Lolait is made to measure for you.
-Yeah! The song tells about my dream of being a ‘cantista’ (singer and artist). I talk about artists that inspire me like Karol G or Rosalía, but above all about the incredible Lola Flores. He’s a big influence on me!
-What do people say to you when they see you on the street?
-They tell me that the song is very catchy and that it spreads a lot of joy. That makes me very happy!
-How did your town, Guareña (Badajoz) receive you?
-It was impressive! They gave me a spectacular welcome. I am very proud of my people. Everyone was super affectionate, they even carried signs with my name, and we all ended up singing Like Lola together. It was a very special moment.
-How did you decide to apply for the Junior Eurovision casting?
-I had always dreamed of being able to participate, so when I saw the opportunity, I didn’t hesitate. I wanted to do it, and here we are.
-On the other hand, who would you like to collaborate or share the stage with?
– Abraham Mateo, Omar Montes, Rosalía… I like them all (laughs). Besides, I listen to everything, because the music in my house is playing twenty-four hours a day.
-What advice would you give to a boy or girl who wants to perform?
-I would tell them that the important thing is not the position you get, but the experience. Enjoy the moment and learn everything you can.
