During the last year, São Paulo went through financial ups and downs that made the Board choose to rent Morumbi for a long series of concerts by the British band Coldplay. However, the dates of the event coincide with the Campeonato Paulista knockout, and now there is uncertainty to define the home stadium, check it out.
Will São Paulo play at Allianz Parque?
Although it may seem a somewhat controversial assumption, it is important that fans do not forget that at the beginning of the State, Palmeiras needed a place to play their classic against Santos, and played the game quietly at Morumbi. Showing that the good relationship between both teams is at its best.
Currently classified for the quarterfinals, the Morumbi team still does not know where they will play their first duel. As far as coach Rogério Ceni is concerned, Allianz Parque is the best place to play against Água Santa. In an interview he stated: “the one with the best condition, even though it is not natural grass, is from Palmeiras. It looks like it’s a management agreement, I’m not exactly sure or date or location. It is a comfortable stadium, with a good capacity for the public. We don’t have many options in São Paulo”.
The São Paulo coach detailed other reasons: “Corinthians will not lend the stadium for us to play, Palmeiras, according to the agreement, is a possibility, and the others have less capacity, with pitches in worse condition. If the management chooses to play at Allianz Parque, if Palmeiras gives in, I think it should be there”.
São Paulo today
Despite the indecision about the next game, São Paulo, which is not used to artificial grass, sees the advantage of playing at Allianz Parque, mainly due to the alliance that both teams have established. The next weekend will have to face Água Santa in the quarterfinals in time, day and place to be defined.
