David Broncanothe presenter of ‘The Revolt’ who has revolutionized television with his charisma and irreverent humor, is not the only exceptional talent in his family. On the other side of the coin is his brother Daniel Broncanoan eminence in classical music who has managed to build an extraordinary career as a clarinetist. United by an unbreakable brotherly bond, these two brothers originally from Orcera (Jaén), a municipality that does not even have 2,000 inhabitants, they have managed to fulfill their professional dreams in apparently opposite fields based on perseverance and a lot of determination. Although they currently live far from each other—David in Madrid and his brother Daniel in the Canary Islands—, their bond has always been very strong and that connection became even deeper when Daniel had to face a tragedy that marked a before and after. in his life: the sudden loss of his wife.

Daniel Broncano, two years younger than David, discovered his love for music at a very young age. In his native Orcera, he began playing the oboe and then the clarinet, later leading his own classical music program on local radio at the age of 11. His talent and dedication led him to study at the Royal Superior Conservatory of Music of Madrid and, later, in the prestigious Royal College of Music, London. This training positioned him as a reference in classical music, serving as technical director of the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra and leading cultural projects such as the festival ‘Music in Safety’.

In 2013, he suffered the loss of his wife, the New Zealand mezzo-soprano Felicity Smithwho died suddenly due to a pulmonary embolism, just a year after getting married. At that time, both were preparing the first Música en Segura festival. “He died suddenly eight months before the first festival, an event that turned my life around,” Daniel confessed in an interview.
© danielbroncanoThe musician decided to honor Felicity’s memory by continuing with the project they dreamed of together. In 2014, the first edition of the festival was held in the Natural Park of the Sierras de Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas. “The festival is my baby. Carrying it out was a way to complete what I started with her,” she explained. This event not only became a tribute to the love of his life, but also a cultural reference for classical music in Spain.

Although David Broncano rarely talks about his personal life, he does not hide the pride he feels for his brother. On one occasion, during his participation in ‘Who wants to be a millionaire?’David used the wild card of the call to ask for help from Daniel, who responded with the same sense of humor characteristic of the Broncanos: “Yeah, well, with him it would be who wants to be the biggest millionaire.”

The present of the Broncano
While Daniel continues his outstanding career as a clarinetist and cultural manager, David celebrates the overwhelming success of ‘La Revuelta’, which has won the 2024 Ondas Award for best entertainment program. “Many people thought that La Revuelta was a program that kids watched on YouTube and that, therefore, it would not work on general television. They said that it was a kind of political assignment and that no one would watch it… Well, in the end, yes that people are seeing it” the presenter pointed out in his speech. And each brother in their own way has conquered their respective professional fields with effort and passion, putting the name of Orcera on the map.
