This reflection reminds me of the metaphor of the tree. In times of abundance, when money flows and everything seems to be going well, many people come forward, attracted by the prosperity that, in some way, benefits them. I call these ephemeral friendships, which leave as soon as the situation changes, leaf friendships: they are fragile, temporary and carried away by the wind of uncertainty.
Then, there are branch friendships. These people hold on a little longer, trying to provide support when difficulties are just beginning. However, when the situation drags on and requires deeper commitment, they break down. They are not willing to endure the pressure of difficult times, and after a few months, they also distance themselves.
Finally, in the most critical moments, the root friendships remain. These are the people who, when everything falls apart, don’t run away. On the contrary, they ask for “pick and shovel” and join the effort of seeing you reborn.
It is not just about being present, but about being active witnesses of your resurgence. These people are the ones who really believe in you, your ability and your potential. They are not just interested in your passing success, but in the entire path to it.
The true wealth of a person, whether man or woman, is not in material goods, but in those deep friendships that stay by your side until the end, sharing the hard work, the tears and finally, the success.
Throughout life, you will find people with double standards, who approach you only in good times, disguising their intentions with a false friendship.
But never underestimate the value of those who support you through the bad times, because they are the ones who will truly help you pick yourself up when you need it most.
True wealth is in the people who stay until the end, witnessing your return to success.
