At the end of December 2022, the elected representatives of the Community of communes of the Pays de Meslay-Grez (Mayenne) had to vote on the new tariffs for the royalty of household waste for 2023.
Users will see their invoice for the trash cans increase by 10%, which represents an increase of €13.60 per household for the year.
An increase in costs suffered
The CdC explains that it suffered “the increases in overall costs related to the management of waste“.
The community must in particular deal with the increase in treatment taxes. The General Tax on Polluting Activities (TGAP) notably increased by 27.5%. Collection and transport costs have also been increased.
The CdC notes an increase in the tonnage of household waste collected, sorting errors and acts of incivility which contribute to increasing its expenses.

Elected officials say they are working on ways to improve these themes.
What had been voted for 2021 and 2022
If it had been recommended to the community to apply a 20% increase in the tariff in 2023, the elected officials of the Meslay-Grez country wanted to minimize the increase to 10% so as to “limit the impact on users’ budgets”.
As a reminder, the tariff had already been increased by 5% in 2022 and 10% in 2021.
