They ask Reginato (UDI) to deliver the letters of their accounts

Last Thursday, the Economic Crimes Brigade of the Investigative Police (PDI) received instructions from the Prosecutor’s Office to request the former mayor of Viña del Mar, Virginia Reginato (UDI) the delivery of the letters of their bank accounts.

As revealed Ciperthe purpose of the diligence is to investigate all the banking movements of the former mayor in the years 2010, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020. This, in the midst of the investigation carried out by the Prosecutor’s Office against him for fraud against the Treasury, which began with the complaint filed by the current communal chief, Macarena Ripamonti.

Specifically, the complaint filed by Ripamonti denounces the delivery of millionaire settlements to three municipal officials under the administration of Reginato: Claudio Boisier, Patricia Colarte and Rodrigo Macuada.

Boisier, former general manager of the Municipal Corporation of Viña del Mar between 2009 and 2018, was compensated with $77 million after his resignation from office. Later, he was appointed as municipal administrator.

On the other hand, Macuada – administrator of the Santa Inés de Viña del Mar cemetery since 1992 – received in 2019 almost $60 million in salaries, after the end of his contract due to “company needs.” However, according to Ciper, the complaint considers that Macuada’s dismissal should have been carried out under the “cause of article 160 No. 7 of the Labor Code, that is, serious breach of the obligations imposed by the contract,” and not due to “needs.” of the company.”

Colarte, meanwhile, received around $21 million after resigning from her position as Director of Education of the Municipal Corporation, a position she held between 2004 and 2010.

After her prolonged tenure as mayor of Viña del Mar – 16 and a half years – Reginato was elected as a councilor of the commune in 2021. She remained in office for just over two weeks, since She was disqualified from holding public office for five years. This, due to the notable abandonment of duties while she was mayor, as confirmed by the Election Qualifying Tribunal (Tricel). The Comptroller General of the Republic detected that the damage to the municipality’s coffers exceeded the $17 billion.
