Intervilles: these emblematic cities of the show refuse the new version of France Télé

ENTERTAINMENT – We don’t joke with the cow. The cult show Intercity is soon back on television, from summer 2025, but emblematic cities of the game refuse to participate. In question: the absence of the famous cow.

Indeed, Nagui, who produces and will present the show, being committed to the protection of animals, decided not to involve the animal. As pointed out Francebleu Gascony Monday November 11, the presenter had already announced this project in 2020 and the idea sparked an outcry in the Landes. Covid had stopped any development of the program, until now.

Thus, the towns of Dax and Mont-de-Marsan, outraged by the exclusion of the cowhave announced that they will not participate in the new version of Intervilles. However, the two municipalities have a great history with the show since Each has won it three times. In 1962, 1971 and 2008 for Dax and in 1998, 2006 and 2007 for Mont-de-Marsan.

A ” denigration » traditions

The mayor of Dax, Julien Dubois, explained to France Bleu Gascogne having been contacted by the production company, who “confirmed the absence of cows”. “This implies that they would suffer trauma by participating in Intervilles. Which is absolutely not the case. In this context, we declined the proposal made to us,” he declared.

And obviously no regrets at not being part of the adventure, even though Dax was the first city to win the game in the year it was created in 1962. The mayor emphasizes that “It was then a show that took place within a certain framework, and not with underlying messages that did not correspond to us”.

The feeling is shared by the mayor of Mont-de-Marsan, Charles Dayot. He also believes that the idea that cows could suffer from the emission is erroneous. “ I think that indirectly, it is also, not a form of attack, but a denigration of traditions around animals like the Landes cow and others…and it is obvious that the town of Mont-de-Marsan does not ‘has little to do with an Intervilles without cows’he told the media.

The original show denatured »

Evoking a distortion of the show, the mayor regrets that this new concept is far from that of the first version, even though it is the latter which “filled the arenas”. He knows something about it since in 2007, he was the captain of the Mons team which won.

“Intervilles without the cows, it’s a bit like surimi or Canada Dry, it lacks flavor”he insisted to France Bleu Gascogne. “More seriously, Intervilles without cows is not Intervilles. It’s something else, it’s a fair, or a game show of some sort, but it’s not called Intervilles.”

For this new version of the show, France Télévisions relied on iconic faces from its channels: Nagui therefore returns as conductor, surrounded by several other animators and in particular Bruno Guillon. Over the years, Thierry Roland, Julien Courbet, Laurent Mariotte, Juliette Arnaud, Patrice Laffont, Jean-Pierre Foucault, Nathalie Simon, Julien Lepers, Nelson Monfort and Olivier Minne have taken part in the exercise. A new logo has also been unveiled.

Launched in 1962 by Guy Lux and Claude Savarit and broadcast intermittently, Intercity is an iconic TV show. A program of French origin, it has been adapted all over the world and even gave birth to an international version. The concept ofIntercity should remain unchanged: the inhabitants of two cities compete in different physical events, often funny, such as sumo competitions and obstacle courses, or tests of strength, but also quizzes. Each event is worth a certain number of points. And so until then there were cows and tests like “toro-pools”. Which won’t happen any time soon.
