These are the YOU team-approved pyjamas to buy this season

The nights are drawing in and the days are getting nippy, which means cosy season is officially here. Yep, it’s finally socially acceptable to spend every second you’re at home curled up in your most snug pyjama sets. Of course, loungewear and athleisure are also great off-duty outfit options. But there’s something about chucking on your PJs that helps your brain switch off, isn’t there?

We know pyjamas are something worth investing in year-round. But this time of year it’s more important than ever to stay warm and snug as – if you’re anything like us – you’ll be spending a lot more time wearing them! In fact, we have proof we’re not the only ones thinking about updating our PJ options: online searches for ‘pyjama’ have risen by 245% in the last month, according to shopping search engine LTK. It appears nightwear is on the top of everybody’s shopping lists right now.

It’s also important that you feel great in your pyjamas. Gone are the days when you could simply throw on any old set. With WFH and Zoom calls the norm, added to the fact that its now acceptable to step out wearing your nightwear as daywear (the Scandi set do it best), choosing something chic is key.

Copenhagen Fashion Week

There are a few things to look out for when investing in your new pair. We caught up with Gillian Ridley Whittle, founder of sustainable sleep and loungewear brand Peachaus for her advice on what you should consider before shopping your next pyjama set:

Size up for a comfy fit

Comfort is key when it comes to pyjamas, explains Gillian. ‘You need to ensure whatever style you choose is loose, with no tight or hard elastics on waist bands that might dig in and prevent a good night’s sleep.’

Opt for natural fabrics

If you’re anything like us, the appeal of a budget buy can often make you forget to check other things, such as material and feel. Itchy or heavy materials can make for a restless night, so its worth investing in better fabrics when it comes to your nightwear. ‘Soft, breathable, and natural fabrics – such as cotton or modal – are important to avoid overheating during the night,’ adds Gillian. Good quality fabrics are also less likely to be see-through, which is helpful if you’re wearing your pyjamas around the house.

Choose a timeless style

If you’re spending a little more money on your pyjamas, it’s important to consider whether you’ll love them season after season. Look for styles that feel timeless and well-made.
