An amazing discovery in Nazca thanks to artificial intelligence: more than 300 geoglyphs

A team of researchers has managed to identify 303 new geoglyphs in the Peruvian pampas of Nazca, which doubles the number known until now of these mysterious figures, discovered by archaeologist Maria Reiche in the 1940s. Artificial intelligence has played a very important role in this discovery, since the Researchers from the Nazca Institute of Yamagata University in Japan and IBM Research who have carried out the work have used it to map the distribution of these drawings. To do this, a large amount of data from geospatial images taken from airplanes was analyzed to identify areas where they could be hidden. One of the curiosities is that the ones they have found depict humanoids, decapitated heads and domestic animals, unlike those that already existed, which usually represented wild animals. This is another important step to decipher the enigmas of these drawings, which, according to what they point out, are more than 2,000 years old and archaeologists have been studying it for decades.
