There are another 224 confirmed cases of dengue

According to the document, on October 24th, Thursday, the country registered 493 suspected cases, 224 confirmed cases, two hospitalized cases and 0 deaths. No cases of Severe Dengue were reported.

Confirmed cases were registered in Praia (148), Ribeira Grande de Santiago (4), São Domingos (4) and Santa Catarina (9).

In Santa Cruz, 27 cases were registered, São Lourenço dos Órgãos three, São Filipe nine, Mosteiros 10 and Brava five.

There are still four cases in São Vicente and one in Tarrafal de São Nicolau.

Currently the country has 16,316 reported cases, including 10,429 confirmed and 2 accumulated deaths.

Recommendations from the Ministry of Health

The most common symptoms are: fever, headache, body aches, “ka pôdi”, pain behind the eyes, rash, diarrhea and vomiting.

To prevent the spread of this disease in communities, it is necessary to strongly engage everyone, from individual, community and institutional levels, with actions aimed at combating mosquitoes and reducing exposure to mosquito bites.

At the individual level and in the household context, it is important that:

  • Wash all containers and containers, e.g. drums, plant pot plates,
  • with soap and water, at least once a week;
  • Wash cisterns and tanks before refilling;
  • Clean your gutters frequently;
  • Keep the patio/terraces/yard free of debris;
  • Do not leave water accumulated anywhere;
  • Place nets on windows;
  • Place the trash in the container;
  • Wear cool, loose clothing that covers most of your body area.
