The traditional Handbag FAIR in Zlín is coming: it will offer joy and help

Handbags, wherever you look. The 13th Handbag Fair in Zlín is fine-tuning the last details in order to open its doors on Monday, May 27, to give a lot of shopping pleasure and, above all, a lot of benefit. Money raised for a unique domestic event traditionally goes to the organization Naděje. With their help, she finances projects for which there would be no money left in the regular budget. The profit from the last Naděja fair made it possible to build a therapy corner including raised beds with herbs and flowers in the local House of Peaceful Aging, and this year’s will support the Social – therapeutic workshops of Zlín’s Naděja, which offer support and care to clients with mental handicaps.

Few of the visitors to the Bag Fair will leave with just one piece.

Women know that there are never enough handbags, and each new one can bring a lot of joy and excitement. Women’s weakness for handbags, but also the need and will to help those in need, stood at the beginning of the charitable tradition in Zlín. The fundraiser of the Zlín branch came up with the idea of preparing a benefit event especially for women Hope Gentlemen Zuzana Slúchová more than 10 years ago.

She teamed up with the editor-in-chief of the Zlín newspaper at the time for promotion David Karolathought through the entire system of collection points and established cooperation with the Municipal Theater in Zlín.

“Other workers in Zlín’s Naděj joined her with gusto, and an event was created that spread to other branches and which we like to repeat every year,” Aneta Kvapilová recalled to Deník about the early beginnings.

The handbag FAIR was held in Zlín for the twelfth time. Almost 140,000 crowns were collected for handbags, with the support of the Wild Goose Foundation.

The principle of the action is simple. A few weeks before the date of the fair, people will bring handbags (including bags and backpacks) that they no longer wear, but could still please someone else, to about a dozen collection points in and around Zlín. And there are hundreds of them!

Each of the donated handbags will then receive its own price tag and a place on an improvised sales floor in the foyer Zlín Theater, which is the traditional host of the fair. This year’s one, whose face became an actress from the Municipal Theater Zlín Helena Cermákováwill take place on Monday, May 27, from 3 to 6 p.m., and hundreds of beautiful pieces that people have brought to the collection points in Zlín are already waiting for their new owners (or rather female owners).

Practical, original, branded and regular, large and small evening, beach and the unique ones from distant regions, beautifully preserved and never worn.

The joy of vintage pieces. Handbags that could have gone to the trash will make new owners happy again.

The handbag FAIR is a phenomenon. The original idea has already made big money

“Proceeds from the event will go to the Social Therapy Workshops, where clients with mental handicaps acquire and develop their work habits, communication and motor skills. They also deepen self-care and thereby practice orientation and a greater degree of independence in life. They create very nice handmade products, which you will also have the opportunity to buy at the event at great prices,” informs the Zlín Theater on its websites.

Each handbag will help Naděje’s clients

“It can be seen that the charity event, the Handbag Fair, has already become popular in the Zlín region. People are looking forward to getting rid of their handbags and making room for new ones. I already had several phone calls during January, when the collection will start and where they can take the handbags. It’s very nice to see that there is interest in this event, we expect a lot of visitors,” says Alexandra Vovčenkov from the local branch of Naděje, which mainly cares for the elderly and people with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

Visitors to this year’s charity fair will also find relaxation areas with coffee and refreshments, a cultural program and an online auction of selected handbags in the theater.
