The direction of Slovakia’s match against Kazakhstan was already quite clearly indicated in the first period, during which Pospíšil, Faško-Rudaš and Sukeľ scored. At the beginning of the second 20-minute period, the Kazakhs also gained ground, but the Slovaks countered with three more goals. Kazakhstan’s Omirbekov had the last word, but he only symbolically adjusted the final score.

The effort to follow up on a sympathetic performance against Canada lasted the British until the seventeenth minute, when they conceded for the first time. They went into the second period with a one-goal loss, but it ended in a sporting disaster for them. Five Finnish goals resolutely scattered any chances of an outsider for another solid result. In the end, they took away eight goals from their opponent from the north of Europe.
