The Simpsons has begun the 36th season of its extremely long existence with an impact episode that It was presented as the series finale. A historic event, considering that the creation of Matt Groening has been on the air since 1989, which was heralded by an animated version of Conan O’Brien, historic scriptwriter of the series.
An animated version of the comedian and presenter appeared on screen saying: “It is an honor to be before all of you in the final episode of The Simpsons.” Appearance that O’Brien himself was in charge of warming up on social networks days before the broadcast announcing a historic episode, capable of bursting heads.
Is ‘The Simpsons’ over?
“It’s true, Fox has decided to end “The Simpsons” is another of the animated O’Brien’s phrases that set off the alarm and triggered the disbelief of the fans of the yellow family who could not believe what they were seeing. Furthermore, the presenter assured that for years the channel had proposed several episodes of the series as its finale (like the one with Homer’s death) although at the last minute they had backed out.
What came next was an episode, titled Bart’s birthday where Bart Simpson turns 11 years old, breaking one of the golden rules of the series: its characters always remain the same age. But in this episode Bart has a birthday, Milhouse and his family move to Atlanta, Moe’s closes, Mr. Burns dies horribly, Principal Skinner moves to another school in Sacramento and practically every relevant character in Springfield closes his story arc in some way.
Until Bart rebels at the idea of birthdays and refuses to blow out the candles. Homer proceeds to execute one of the classic chokes of your son until the chronology resets to his tenth birthday again and the rest of the series’ changes are reverted. Including the end of The Simpsons.
As could be imagined, the episode number 769 of the series, which opens its 36th season, is actually just a big joke playing with the possible ending of The Simpsons, where those responsible take the opportunity to parody the endings of other legendary series such as The Sopranos, Breaking Bad either Succession, among many others.
Having resolved that this has not been the final episode of the series, season 36 of The Simpsons will continue its weekly broadcast on Fox in the US. It will arrive in Spain soon through Disney+, the streaming platform where The rest of the series is available.
