This is what the Ministry for the Ecological Transition assures and Demographic Challengewhich confirms that the reservation has thus once again exceeded 50% of its total capacity.
According to this organization, which updates the figures every Tuesday, the water impounded in Spain has experienced a decrease this week. concrete growth of 854 cubic hectometers of waterthe equivalent of more than one and a half points (1.54%) compared to last week. With this, the Spanish reserve now stores a total of 28,040 cubic hectometres, which means that it is located exactly in 50.04% of its capacity.
With these numbers, the reserve is now in a much more optimal situation than the one presented last year at this same time. In 2023, the reservoirs were at this time in October at 35.5% and their water volume did not even reach 20,000 cubic hectometers. Thus, the dammed water is now set up to 14.5 points above from last year’s numbers.

The basins of the Basque Country stand out

In the south and east of the peninsula, with the exception of the Tinto, Odiel and Piedras basin, whose unique characteristics make it established at 71.2%, the rest of the basins are below 50%. The Guadiana basin is at 40.2% after rising 0.8 points; Júcar falls 0.2 points and its level is 40%, while it grows two points to 32.26% this week.
In a worse situation are the internal basins of Cataloniawhich barely grew 0.3 points and They are at 27.9% of their total capacity.
