In 1957, Valencia lived one of its most memorable tragedies when a devastating flood devastated the city, leaving 81 dead and enormous material damage. The streets were covered in mud and debris, but the spirit of solidarity of the Valencians was felt: thousands of people came out en masse to rescue those who needed it, clean the streets and rebuild together what was lost. That catastrophe marked an era, remembered for the strength and unity with which the city rose.

History seems to repeat itself, but so does solidarity. Once again, Valencians have come together to rebuild their city and support those who have lost everything, reviving the collective spirit of that 1957 tragedy.

A group of neighbors in November 2024 who go out to eat on the street, after the cleaning, to be able to share their hope with emergency personnel.
Today, as then, that collective strength resurfaces again, showing the character of a people that, in the face of adversity, grows, without ever losing the sense of brotherhood.
