Andorra la Vella / Escaldes-EngordanyAndorra la Vella and Escaldes-Engordany kicked off the Carnival celebrations organized jointly by the two parishes this Friday afternoon. It has been with the hanging of the Carnival and the performance of the theater group Making off. During the reading of the proclamation, the parking policy of the municipality of Andorra la Vella or the works in the upper part of Escaldes-Engordany to build a car park were criticized. Officials, YouTubers and even the bishop of Urgell have been the object of criticism for the proclamation in which it has been hoped that Saturday’s Carnival parade will be more punctual than the procession of kings and there has also been talk of of the queues that the country usually experiences. In this sense, they have joked that Canillo is no longer called that but “Cuanillo”. After the reading, the Carnival was hung, made by the Llamp children.
It should be noted that the central event of the joint Carnival program will take place this Saturday from six in the afternoon and will be the costume parade. The parade will start at the Mola Park in Escaldes-Engordany to end at Plaça PrÃncep Benlloch in Andorra la Vella. At the end of the street there will be a sausage sizzle for all the participants in Plaça del Poble and the performance of the troupes participating in the choreography contest in the auditorium of the Congress Center. Before the end of the party, the winners of the troupe and choreography competitions will be announced.
The joint program of activities will continue on Monday with a children’s show in the Escaldes-Engordany auditorium (at half past six in the afternoon), and the following day, the Carnival trial and burning in Plaça CoprÃnceps d’Escaldes-Engordany, from seven in the afternoon, and with the performances of the Esbart Santa Anna d’Escaldes-Engordany and the Esbart Dansaire d’Andorra la Vella.
