PARIS – The images of the flames of April 15, 2019 finally give way to a completely renovated cathedral. This Friday, November 29, Emmanuel Macron makes a final visit to Notre-Dame de Parisbefore reopening to the public on December 7 and 8. After 5 years of titanic work, the visit of the Head of State is broadcast live on France 2 to allow viewers to admire the interior of the building, as you can see in our video at the top of the article.
After being welcomed in the square, Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron passed through the main door and discovered the nave. At his side, the mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo, the president of the Île-de-France region, Valérie Pécresse, but also the Minister of Culture Rachida Dati.
This is the first time that we can see Notre-Dame de Paris so immaculate, the cathedral having been cleaned for the last time in 1864, specifies the architectural historian Mathieu Lours on the set of France 2. On the images, we can therefore see the whiteness of the stones, which regain their former color.
The renovation of Notre-Dame de Paris was made possible by the 846 million euros collected from 340,000 donors according to France 2. The remaining money should also make it possible to redevelop the exteriors of the cathedral by greening them.
