“The ends were not met”: the audio that would link Ronald Ojeda with a military operation to overthrow Maduro weeks before his death

A little more than two months after the kidnapping and murder of the Venezuelan lieutenant (R) Ronald Ojedanew antecedents emerged that would link the former military man – who had refugee status in Chile – with a secret operation to overthrow the government of Nicolás Maduro, weeks before his death.

This is what he stated Meganews, in a preview of a report that will be broadcast this Wednesday night. In an audio, the former military man speaks with a colleague: “Brother, (it is) frustrating because a pretty big job was done well and notice that a small mistake that is being paid quite dearly “He really put everything at risk.”

Then, Ojeda mentions another soldier who would have been captured during the operation: “And well, thank God I was able to get out. But damn, my captain was capturedbut well, as you say, frustrating because the goals were not met and they were not, they worked hard for that.”

According to the aforementioned media, The former lieutenant would have traveled from Chile – through non-authorized border crossings – to Colombia in December 2023, specifically Cucutaa city near the border with Venezuela. Ojeda returned to Chilean territory in January 2024. In February, four individuals dressed in PDI uniforms entered his home and took him away. Later, his body was found buried in a camp in Maipú.

The prosecutor in charge of the Ojeda case, Hector Barros, of the Team against Organized Crime and Homicides, confirmed the trip to Colombia which, according to the report, would have been destined for Venezuela.

“That is why we maintain that the organization of this kidnapping took place outside of Chile, specifically in Venezuela,” added the prosecutor.

In an interview with the aforementioned media, Ojeda’s sister, Mayra, reveals that after the former military man’s trip to Venezuela, both were planning for him to move to Spainwhere part of his family resides.
