In fact, before arriving at Machu Picchu, the couple was received in Lima by the Spanish ambassador, where Irene also experienced moments of reflection. “We were received by the Spanish ambassador in Lima and we were concerned about the amount of water that was falling per square meter in Valencia,” he tells us. And he continues, remembering the disconcerting moment in which the news reached them: “The next day, already at the airport going to Cusco, we saw the terrible images that DANA has left behind in its devastating wake.”
Once in Machu Picchu, fulfilling the dream that Irene decreed years ago that she would do with her life partner when she found him, both made a stop to honor those who have suffered loss. “We contemplated beautiful corners, Inca ruins and already in Machu Picchu we made a prayer of gratitude and a direct request to Spain, for the relatives of the deceased and for all those people and companies that have lost everything. May the strength of hope rebuild the affected areas and, above all, the devastated hearts,” Irene shared with great emotion.
David, Irene’s great happiness
Irene and David’s honeymoon has been a dream trip, a gift that began after a double wedding celebration. First, on September 21, in an intimate ceremony at the Monastery of Santa María de La Vid, and then at a joyful party on October 5 in Madrid with his friends.
