The countdown has begun. There is exactly one week left until one of the most exclusive and anticipated social events of the year, the Debutante Ball. On November 30, the Shangri-La hotel in Paris will once again host this public presentation in which there will be a Spanish name: Eugeniathe firstborn of Luis Alfonso de Borbón and Margaret Vargas. Now that the date is approaching, HELLO! has revealed the names of all the protagonists and their cavaliers, which has allowed us to discover who will accompany Eugenia on her grand debut.
“She is very happy. Her father did it many years ago and she was excited about it. If she is happy, so am I,” Margarita Vargas recently said about this presentation in society that celebrates “excellence, the empowerment of women and harmony among debutantes and cavaliers from all over the world.” Eugenia is passionate about fashion and will dazzle with a Carolina Herrera style (in clear homage to her mother’s Venezuelan roots) on the arm of a descendant of the empress Sissi who is already a veteran at Le Bal.
The young man who will accompany the first-born of the Dukes of Anjou is the Archduke Charles Constantine of Habsburg-Lorrainewhich turned 20 on July 20 and is part of one of the oldest and most important lineages in history. Not in vain, he is the youngest of the three children of the aristocrat Eilika von Oldenburg and Archduke George, who occupies third place in the line of succession to the former Austro-Hungarian throne and is Hungarian ambassador to France.
The grandson of the last Emperor of Austria and Eugenia share their passion for the equestrian world. She is a promising show jumping rider, while he excels at vaulting, a discipline in which the rider performs dangerous stunts on a horse galloping in a circle, guided “on the rope” by a driver. Additionally, he is part of a Hungarian team called Sóskúti Manók. It should be noted that Károly, as he calls himself, grew up surrounded by animals and learned to ride without even knowing how to walk. His mother runs a riding center and was in charge of giving him his first classes.
The nephew of Francesca Thyssen and Archduke Charles has close ties to Spain and is fluent in the language. Queen Sofía is the godmother of one of her sisters (Sofía and Ildiko), part of her family lives in our country and even in her profile she is linked to the European University of Madrid. This summer, he also shared several snapshots from Palma de Mallorca, a destination he chose to enjoy a few days of rest with his loved ones.
With all certainty, Charles Constantine of Habsburg-Lorraine will be able to give Eugenie de Borbón the best tricks to calm the logical nerves in Le Bal, since he is a veteran. Last year already attended this presentation in society inspired by an English tradition from the 17th century. He did so as a cavalier to Countess Lara Cosima Henckel von Donnersmarck, daughter of the German filmmaker Florian Maria Georg Christian Graf Henckel. It was doubly special for him because among the debutantes was his sister Ildiko.
