In the analysis by distribution chains, Carrefour is the one that applies the greatest reduction to the basket, 7%, followed by El Corte Inglés supermarkets, 2.9%; Alcampo, 2.5%, and Dia and Mercadona, which reduce their tickets by 1.9%, both, approximately.
The association has recalled that since this Tuesday, VAT on milk, bread, fruits and other basic foods will stop being 0% and increase to 2%while that of olive oil will remain at that 2%. And in the case of pasta and seed oils (including sunflower oil), the tax will go from the 5% they currently had to 7.5%.
The current VAT is temporary and will remain that way until December 31, while with the arrival of the new year, the tax will rise again and return to its usual rate of 4% for basic foods and 10% in the case of pasta and seed oils.
