Ten days after DANA devastated several areas of Valencia and Castilla-La Mancha in just a few minutes, the images arriving from these points continue to be devastating. Thousands of volunteers have traveled to the affected areas from different parts of the map, while others collaborate from their respective cities by organizing collections of food and necessary utensils. Each gesture already adds to that chain that makes us see the best side of human beings, Tamara Falcó has joined.
The Marchioness of Griñón has joined Messengers of Peace to collaborate in collecting essential materials for people affected by the tragedy left by the cold drop. At the Catedral de Justo Social Center, located in the Madrid town of Mejorada del Campo, and with a reflective vest over his jacket, he has been receiving and classifying “essential donations such as food, hygiene products and drinking water, all of which are essential for the families facing this emergency.”
Tamara has formed a team with the rest of the volunteers, among whom there has been a very pleasant atmosphere since everyone is aware that this effort is very important for many people and they feel satisfied to be able to be by their side despite the distance. The designer also listened carefully to the words of the person in charge, in charge of telling everyone present about the news and the next steps to follow.
“Great work by Messengers of Peace. Thank you for letting me contribute my grain of sand today,” said Tamara. Furthermore, he has defined as “angels on earth” all those who are part of this NGO created by Father Ángel. The priest is a personal friend of the aristocrat and her family. In fact, he was one of the people who concelebrated the wedding of the Marchioness of Griñón with Íñigo Onieva, held in July 2023 at the El Rincón Palace. One more example of that union came in spring with the visit of Isabel Preysler and Chábeli Iglesias to a nursing home of this organism.
This is not the only help that Tamara has put in place. She herself has said that she has started working with World Central Kitchen, the NGO of chef José Andrés, “and next week, God willing, I will be able to go to Valencia.” She has joined several chef friends who will travel to the affected towns to get into the kitchen and ensure that “people eat hot.”
The collaboration of Íñigo Onieva from Valencia
This week, Iñigo Onieva has moved to Valencia to collaborate with all the recovery and cleaning work that is required after the irreparable damage that the water has caused. “He has been there with some friends and with an NGO. People are dedicated, but machinery is needed in all the towns,” Tamara said in El Hormiguero. In addition, she detailed two aspects that have impacted her husband during the days he has spent in the affected areas: “What has shocked him the most is that the Valencians are fighting. I would be devastated. They are giving everything there.” Also “how grateful they are to the volunteers.”
