Sixteen Special Olympics Andorra athletes at the Catalan Swimming Championship

Andorra la VellaThe Special Olympics Andorra sports federation, sponsored by the Crèdit Andorrà Foundation, will take part this coming Sunday in the Catalan Swimming Championship, organized by the Catalan Sports Federation for people with intellectual disabilities. The appointment will take place at the facilities of the Lloret de Mar Swimming Club. On behalf of the Andorran delegation, sixteen athletes will participate: Jordi Tarifa, Nelson Gonçalves, Oriol March, Abdel Zarioh, Juan Pablo Bellenzier, Cristian de Sousa, Jordi Caetano, Sandra Marrackchi, Jordi Tenias, Sergi Cuberes, Jennifer Vilchez, Nàdia Roser, Aina Baron, Clàudia Ramos, Pau Alay and Miriam Pons.

In total, 220 athletes from clubs or organizations from all over Catalonia are expected to participate.

It should be remembered that the Crèdit Andorrà Foundation has sponsored the Special Olympics Andorra sports federation since 2007, “with the aim of contributing to the social integration of athletes, as well as the organization and their participation in national and international events of these characteristics”, as they recall in a statement. They state that this is support for an initiative whose mission is the integration into society of people with some type of intellectual disability, in conditions of equality with the rest of citizens, through sport , since they assure that the practice of sports is “a way of personal and social development, which improves the quality of life and encourages personal improvement”.
