Senate authorizes judicial reform not to be eliminated from the DOF – El Financiero

With 81 votes in favor and 36 votes against, the Plenary Session of the Senate of the Republic approved the agreement to declare the order of the Judge Nancy Juárez Salas to the President Claudia Sheinbaum to eliminate the reform of the Judiciary of the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF).

This, after the legal advisor to the Presidency, Ernestina Godoywill send to the Board of Directors of the Senate a query about the origin of the request from the judge of the Nineteenth District Court in Veracruz, which forces the head of the Executive to eliminate the publication of the judicial reform in the DOF.

During this Thursday’s session, the president of the Board of Directors, Gerardo Fernández Noronaannounced the resolution, arguing that it is impossible to comply with what the judge ordered, since the publication of the constitutional changes is an “irrevocably consummated” fact.

“The agreement was approved well above the absolute majority. This sovereignty is defending its work, the current Constitution and the tasks carried out,” declared the senator.

Regarding the same consultation, Sergio Gutiérrez Luna, president of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Deputies, confirmed that the Lower House also declared that it is impossible to revoke or eliminate said reform, because “there is no legal possibility to address a resolution that contradicts the constitutional mandate.”

“Any judicial resolution that seeks to stop or reverse the constitutional reform in matters of the Judiciary, through the amparo trial, lacks legal basis,” he stated in a statement.
