On Saturday February 25 and Sunday February 26, 2023, the municipality ofEverly (Seine et Marne) hosted a round of French championship of practical work in the countryside, in the space of the Mirror. Twenty participants from all over France competed on a course designed for this canine sports discipline.
“There were different tests, such as obedience, bite, work in the water or even tracking, in order to evaluate the dogs and their masters”, explains Sébastien Voeltzel, president of the canine club provinois.
“It’s not easy for the dog”
Different levels took place over this weekend, without a title, but with rewards for each category:
For example, the dog is asked to guard an object, drawn by lot this morning, here a mower, and the dog must prevent the assistant man from stealing it. There is all the same a particularity on this test, because two men intervene in turn, which is not necessarily obvious for the dog.
Throughout the year, Sébastien Voeltzel offers the Provinois canine club training sessions for this type of competition: “We stay at the club, but sometimes we also go to private homes, so that the dogs can discover of the place, and it’s up to us to help them work on concentration”, he adds.
Usually, the test took place at Chalmaisonbut this year, the organizers wanted to change the place so that there are no habits and so that the course is modified: “Even if the judges change each year, it is important to offer something new participants”, concludes Sébastien Voeltzel.
