removable dress, classic car and dancing in the rain

Even though María is from Malaga, the city where they met, and Guillermo is from Madrid, where they met again to never separate again, this couple decided celebrate their wedding in Sigüenzaa small town in Guadalajara where the bride’s family has spent the summer for several generations and which has a very special meaning for her, to the point that she always knew she wanted to get married there. Said and done, on June 8 she and her partner sealed their love story in a beautiful ceremony in which the bride and groom and their guests ended up dancing in the rain! To shape the dress of her dreams that she would wear on her big day, she trusted Fabio Prieto, who created a simple, elegant and convertible design which will surely inspire future brides looking for comfortable and sophisticated ideas.

The vast majority of brides we spoke with are clear about what is most important to them when choosing a dress for their big day: being themselves, a starting point that we totally share. When we asked her, María added that she wanted “the dress to represent my way of being and not feel disguised”, something she believes she achieved, without a doubt, thanks to the help of Fabio, the designer.

This bride confesses that the wedding world has always attracted a lot of attention, and she has noticed many dresses that she liked and inspired, but she had never stopped to think about what hers would be like. “Yes, I was clear that I wanted to go traditional and simple, but with a special touch that represented my personality,” he adds.

To shape the most important dress of her life, she trusted designer Fabio Prieto on the recommendation of one of her best friends, who knew him well because she had made her sisters’ wedding dresses. She couldn’t be happier with that decision, since, as she tells us, from the first visit she made to her workshop, she felt that she understood perfectly what she wanted and he knew how to guide her until she got THE dress. “I would choose him again, without a doubt, I have really enjoyed the process.”

As I said from the beginning, when it came time to sit down to define the design, I didn’t know exactly what I wanted. “Yes, I was clear about some aspects, such as the fact that I wanted a dress with sleeves, airy textures, a veil and a cape, and that, in some way, it would be a convertible dress. I had many doubts about whether it was compatible to wear all of this already. “As long as it was a simple dress that I felt comfortable in, it was a lot of things!”

However, in the end she was able to make her dream come true thanks to Fabio, who knew how to shape it and achieve, as María explains, “that, in an elegant and simple way, the dress fulfilled everything I wanted and imagined, and the most important, that I felt like myself.

As usually happens, throughout the process they added different details that I had not noticed at the beginning, adding personality to the dress, which she confesses she would wear a thousand times. “I think the most important thing is to feel yourself in the wedding dress, beyond following the trends of the moment. In fact, throughout this process I have always thought that I wanted a dress that, in 20 years, when I see the photos on the day of the wedding, I still want to wear it.

Your ‘2 in 1’ dress

Although until a few years ago it was very common for brides to want to change their dress for the party, more and more brides prefer to wear the same design all day and modify it with convertible details. In her case, María took off her cape and sleeves to be more comfortable and enjoy herself better until the end of the celebration.

The bridal sector has always been surrounded by traditions, to which some brides give great importance, but others, like María, not so much. In her case, she wore borrowed earrings with a very special meaning for her, but more because of that emotional charge than for the fact of wearing something borrowed itself. “I think it is something very personal that depends on each bride. The earrings were from my great aunt Isabela. When my mother showed them to me more than a year ago, I had no doubt that I wanted those to be the earrings I wore on my wedding day. wedding”. To complete, she wore the ring with which Guillermo proposed to her, as well as the one her family gave her when she proposed.

She chose a bouquet of natural wildflowers, a type of bouquet she had always imagined herself having. “In addition, I wore a ribbon with a very special meaning for me, from which hung a medal of the Holy Family that my godparents gave me, as well as a medal of the Virgin Girl that my friends gave me,” she explains.

A very elegant and timeless beauty look

For the beauty look, she was looking for something very simple and natural, that fit perfectly with her style and the dress. To do this, she decided to trust her lifelong hairdresser and makeup artist from Malaga, who traveled almost 700 kilometers to accompany her on her wedding day, something for which María says she will always be very grateful.

Although María is from Málaga and Guillermo is from Madrid, they decided to celebrate the wedding in Sigüenza on June 8, 2024, a date that, without a doubt, both will always remember. The bride’s family has spent the summer in this small town in Guadalajara for several generations: “it is a place that I consider my second home, and where I was always clear that I wanted to get married.”

The religious ceremony took place in San Vicente Mártir, a Romanesque church located in the crossbars of Sigüenza that Guillermo loved from the first day he visited it. Later, they moved to the Monte Cutamilla estate, a place that they had always liked and that, as María explains, “is located a few kilometers from the church and has a mansion and spectacular gardens with many possibilities.”

“Since I can remember, when I am in Sigüenza and I return home for a walk, I always pass by a stone bridge with impressive views of the Cathedral. When Charo, our photographer, asked us where we wanted to take our photos of the wedding and that, if we had a special place in Sigüenza, we remembered the bridge, we told him about it and he loved the idea. Therefore, when we left the church we went straight in the classic Fiat 600. of my father to take some photos of us at this very special place” María tells us, and the result could not be more spectacular.

The beginning of its story

This beautiful link was the finishing touch to a love story that began in 2016, the year in which they met when Guillermo went with María’s cousin to Malaga, where she lived with her family, to participate in an architecture competition.

Two years later, fate wanted her to spend a weekend in Madrid, where they met again and regained contact. “That year I was going to live in London to continue my professional training there, but what I didn’t count on was meeting Guillermo again. Two months later, coincidences of life, I found a job in Madrid and stayed to live here, and since then we began the relationship until today.

One of the biggest pieces of advice that this bride offers to couples who are counting down to their wedding is that, in addition to enjoying the wedding day, they should also enjoy the organization process, because everything happens very quickly, something that they did from day one. “We have not had wedding plannerbut with the help of family, friends and the catering team and the farm itself” he explains.

If we ask her to look back and remember what was the most exciting part of that day, María is clear: it all has to do with the people around them. “Seeing all our friends and family together in one place, even though they came from different places such as, for example, Málaga, Madrid, Pamplona, Santander, Cádiz, Alicante, Logroño, the Canary Islands, Amsterdam, London and Switzerland, among others. others”.

Finally, as an anecdote, he tells us that the weather diagnosis was not very good, but many friends and family complied with the tradition and brought eggs to Santa Clara. “We are not exaggerating when we say that they were able to bring more than 100 eggs! The result, against all odds, was a wonderful day that was respected until the moment of the meal when we went to a room. At the party, which was in an interior patio, but with an awning in the center, the guests preferred it to remain open during the party and we gave it our all in the rain.
