The arrival of new DANA has generated great concern in the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands, just two weeks after a devastating cold drop hit areas of the province of Valencia and other regions of Castile-La Mancha and Andalusia, leaving at least 223 dead in its wake, most in Valenciaand 17 missing. The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has warned that this new DANA will bring atmospheric instability and will move towards the southwest, with a transition to an isolated cold storm.

The situation is especially critical in Tarragona and Malagawhere AEMET has issued red notices due to torrential rains that are expected to leave up to 180 liters per square meter in Tarragona and 120 in Malaga in just 12 hours. The authorities have warned about the possibility of overflows and flooding in these areas. The southern coast of Tarragona and the Malaga regions of Sun, Guadalhorce and Axarquia are particularly at risk.

The Valencian Community is also under warning with orange notices in Alicante, Castellon and Valencia. Precipitation could accumulate up to 150 l/m² in points on the northern coast of Castellón, 120 on the southern coast of Valencia and the coast of Alicante. In Andalusia, in addition to Malaga, Grenade has an orange alert for accumulations of 100 l/m², while Cordova and Seville They maintain yellow notices. In Balearicsthe north and northeast of Majorca They are also on yellow alert.

Given this situation, Catalonia has implemented preventive measures in five regions of Tarragona, where the Generalitat has restricted mobility and has suspended classes and teleworking in non-essential activities. The 112 emergency service has already received 251 calls, mainly from Tarragones, Baix Camp and Barcelona.

DANA will also bring strong storms on the Mediterranean coast and the Balearic Islands, especially in the Ebro delta and on the coasts of Malaga and Granada. Some rainfall is expected to become torrential and accompanied by storms. Likewise, in mountainous areas, snowfall could fall at low levels, although temperatures will rise quickly. Maximum temperatures will rise in the Balearic Islands and the Pyrenees, while in other areas there will be a decrease, especially in the southwest.

The winds will be intense and they will blow from the east and northeast in the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands, reaching strong gusts on the Mediterranean coast and mountainous areas of the center and northwest.

Civil defense has announced that the alert for heavy rains will remain until next Saturday, November 16, in anticipation of the episodes of showers and storms that will affect a large part of the Spanish territory.
