Readers of Deník do not support the European Union. Two thirds would get out of it

Fully 64 percent of readers who voted in the Deník poll want the Czech Republic to leave the European Union. The turnout was extremely high, over 18,000 readers cast their votes.

Even in the editorial mail and the discussion under the article, opinions critical of Union. “A group of self-proclaimed EU leaders is usurping power that does not belong to them. The EU should be managed by the prime ministers or presidents of individual states and not this self-proclaimed government. These usurpers listen to rich corporations, banks and, of course, the wishes of their friends from the USA,” said a reader who signed himself as Zdeněk, for example.

Jan Krátký has a similar opinion. “We sat on the Novotné bridge over the Vltava and celebrated the acceptance of the Czech Republic into Europe. Today, after 20 years, I would prefer to cut off the hand that threw the ticket into the ballot box. The EU then and now? I remember the RVHP, it was a democratic institution against the EU!” he assessed.

The European Commission's proposal to ban lead in shotgun ammunition, which will eventually come into effect in January 2023, has caused great controversy in the Czech Republic, with a limitation to wetlands. Health and safety ultimately played a role, but for environmental reasons, not criminal ones.

Truths and lies about the European Union: What happened to the ban on lead in ammunition

Although some writers see faults in the Union, they prefer the republic to persevere in it: “No one can be alone. a country that is so big that there are even bigger cities in the world cannot be alone, it would end up being the prey of who knows who, especially Russia. If someone likes Russia, let them move there, there is definitely enough space in Siberia. You also often don’t like something in your own family, but it is yours. It’s the same with the European Union,” Heidi Ochozková expressed her opinion.

According to public opinion polls that are unlike surveys carried out according to the scientific method, slightly more than half of the citizens support the Union. Of all the member states, the Czechs are still the most critical towards it. And this despite the fact that since May 1, 2004, when we joined the EU, net revenues from the Union have exceeded a trillion crowns.

Heidi Ochozková: We are at home in Europe

No one can be alone. A country that is so big that there are even bigger cities in the world cannot be alone, it would end up being the prey of who knows who, especially Russia. If someone likes Russia, let them move there, there is definitely enough space in Siberia. You also often don’t like something in your own family, but it is yours. So it is with the European Union too. We are part of it, and I personally hope that it will be for a long time.

Zdeněk, 80 years old: The European Union is headed for collapse

My wife and I were one of those who went to Prague for the “coronation” of Václav Havel. Today we are punished hard for it. What this botched revolution has devolved into is a horror… We voted for it anyway entry into the EU. Here, too, the original ideas have degenerated, and a group of self-proclaimed EU leaders is usurping power that does not belong to it. The EU should be managed by the prime ministers or presidents of individual states and not this self-proclaimed government. These usurpers listen to rich corporations, banks and, of course, the wishes of “friends from the USA”. Because they do not understand anything, or do what they are told, they are leading the whole of Europe to total collapse. Today, if the vote were held again, we would never vote for entry.

Martin Belák: Why do we support Ukraine?

We’re already there, nothing can be done. It’s just that our government and Mr. Prime Minister can’t make fun of people. Why are we a state that supports Ukraine? Why don’t bigger countries do this? Ask grandpa, grandma who was the first here in 1968 with tanks? Yes Ukraine. It was the USSR at the time, but Ukrainians. The Prime Minister then reports on TV that he remembers that it was Russia that came to liberate us. The entire EU is just a weapon to maintain fear and uncertainty around the world. My opinion.

Jan Krátký: They are already ordering us toilets

We sat on the Novotné bridge over the Vltava River and celebrated the acceptance of the Czech Republic into Europe. Today, after 20 years, I would prefer to cut off the hand that threw the ticket into the ballot box. EU then and now? I remember the RVHP, it was a democratic institution against the EU! After receiving offers from France and Korea, we had to immediately contact officials in Brussels to see if we could pay for the completion from our own resources! This is unbelievable, aren’t we an independent state with our own government and parliament? The EU dictates what kind of toilet we should have!

War in Ukraine: Many houses are left in ruins.

Should we be afraid that the Russian-Ukrainian war will spread to our territory? Vote

Post 332037: Let’s get out

The Czech Republic should leave the EU and manage its own finances. We can give when we ourselves have a surplus and all citizens of the Czech Republic are provided for in all directions. You live, you have your trough, you have work and support for your promises to the government, but you can’t see beyond your fence that you have to all people. But we pay your taxes too! So why do you prefer others over your own? Do you have this in your families? Mr. President, Prime Minister, Government, who?

Dalibor Kučera: The Union has advantages and weaknesses

Not only in connection with the elections to the European Parliament, there has recently been a lot of discussion in our country about European Union, where we have been for 20 years. Czechs perceive the freedom to travel, work and study positively, on the other hand, they are bothered by excessive directiveness that limits the autonomy of the Czech Republic.

Migration policy and Green Deal. Which is true. Migration policy is one big disaster. Although its solution is not easy, it is definitely more complicated than the “guaranteed recipes” of populists, it deserves a four for its poor solution. It is unacceptable that top politicians and experts could not create something meaningful in nine long years that can protect the borders of the Schengen area better than a leaky colander.

The protection of the planet is also in place, but the fanatical equivalent of the formulated “treatment method” is destroying European competitiveness, and I am also of the opinion that some paths will turn out to be blind and in a decade or so they will be presented as a frightening example of the work of social engineers.

But there is nothing more effective than cooperation between states. It is definitely more beneficial and safer than leaving everyone to fend for themselves. There is strength in community, and with the problems the world has faced and is facing (coronavirus, Russian aggression), it is confirmed that the European Union is definitely a meaningful project. He just needs to tune up. I see one of the weaknesses of why this is happening in the fact that politicians who have not applied themselves at home are “cleaned up” to the European Parliament.

(the texts are not edited)

It will slowly collapse on its own

Staying of course, that’s what we’d do, we’re not England…

The original version was acceptable, what became of the Union and what it is today is something disgusting that leads to a new totalitarianism. Only the flags have changed.

LEAVE!!!!! It was enough…

Definitely not leaving the EU.

Not to leave, but to get out of here quickly while you still can

For us citizens, there is no gain in staying in the EU. The government only gets money from the EU, even at the cost of booing, ordering and dictatorship. The only win is when we go outside the Czech Republic across borders within the EU, so the call is the same. We are in the EU, but dictatorship, threats, orders. That’s it, the EU decided, the EU ordered. The EU should (or should) support the member states, not order them. The same applies to the adoption of a single currency. We don’t have the economy or the wages to accept the euro. So for me the answer is clear, away from the EU.

Definitely get out, because it is impossible to follow the buzz of Brussels, we are already in a bad way.

Definitely yes, stay.

Definitely stay. However, we must learn to effectively use all the possibilities that EU membership can provide us.

Well, for the few years before it falls apart, we’ll last it.

What is Black and White for?

Black and white. Special dedicated to topics that move societyBlack and white. Special dedicated to topics that move societySource: Diary

We are told not to see the world in black and white. This column seems to deny it. But not if we can see at the same time black and whitewe look in color.

Opinion. We all have an opinion. We have the right to freedom of opinion. But what is it? “A Jew is not a man” is an opinion. And it is both heinous and criminal. “Gypsies on the gas” is an opinion, but you can also end up in the bass for it. We intuitively understand why, but where is the freedom?

Leaving the criminal law aside, the above statements are not worth arguing about. As with someone who claims that the covid vaccination is mass-killing, or that we are chipped by it. Or with someone who denies that Russia is the aggressor and has started a war against Ukraine and that it has the right to reclaim the looted territories.

Then there are questions that depend on our nature, upbringing or knowledge: If there is a God or not. If a holiday by the sea or in the mountains is better. If it is better to donate to an animal shelter or the homeless, if punk or the Vienna Philharmonic is better, if a stork or a lizard is prettier. If the rain is disgusting or beautiful, if it is necessary to cope with colonialism even in Central European conditions. If Uber, or Bolt, Matuska, or Gott. And so on.

And then there are disputes where both sides have good arguments. When is it useless to argue? When we should understand each other and look for the best solution. I’ve been watching and writing opinions for thirty years, I think I know a little about them. IN rubric Black and white I summarize factually and logically the arguments of both sides for you, the readers of the Journal.

Please write us your opinions in the discussion below the article, or send us observations or stories to the address [email protected]. We are happy to publish them.
