PEOPLE – Ten days after the death of her father, Rashida Jones spoke in public. The daughter of Quincy Jones went to the Governors Awards, a Hollywood gala organized this Sunday, November 17, during which she delivered a moving speech after a Oscar was given to the famous producer posthumously.
“He often said: ‘Live each day as if it were your last, and one day you will be right.’ And he made this…the most beautiful and best life,” said an emotional Rashida Jones to thunderous applause in Los Angeles. She was accompanied on stage by her sister Martina Jones and her brother Quincy Jones III.
“ In some ways, the decision to come here tonight was a difficult one for our family, but we wanted to celebrate his beautiful life and careerdeclared the actress seen in particular in the series Parks & Recreation. His music literally defined an entire century of culture, jazz, disco, cinema, pop, hip-hop. But the real common thread of his music is that it is infused with his love. »
Selena Gomez and Jennier Lopez moved to tears
“The truth is that this man had an equally powerful impact on the world of cinema”added actor Jamie Foxx while presenting his award. Selena Gomez, Jennifer Lopez and Zoe Saldana were among the stars holding back tears in the audience, while Jennifer Hudson performed a musical tribute.
The titan of the American music industry, known for producing hit records for a veritable pantheon of music industry legends, ranging from Frank Sinatra to Michael Jackson, has died of pancreatic cancer at the age of 91 years old, just two weeks before receiving one of the Academy’s prestigious Lifetime Achievement Awards at the Governors Awards.
Hosted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Governors Awards annually honor veterans of the film industry, many of whom are considered to have not received enough recognition at the traditional Academy Awards.
