Preventive detention for those detained for the murder of a girl in Quilicura

In preventive detention this afternoon the three people arrested by the PDI involved in the crime of a 13-year-old girl on May 6 in the commune of Quilicura, who died as a result of gunshots.

This was ruled by the Second Guarantee Court of Santiago, after the three detainees – a Venezuelan man and a Chilean man and woman– were formalized for the crime of qualified homicide against the minor. Likewise, the Venezuelan subject and the woman were also formalized for the crimes of illegal possession of weapons and violation of the Drug Law.

In this sense, a deadline of 100 days for investigation.

After learning of the arrest this day, Subprefect Juan Zúñiga, head of the North Central Homicide Brigade of the PDI, indicated that the accused were identified “after the investigative analysis, collection of security cameras, registration, witnesses, and the criminal analysis carried out by this multidisciplinary team.”

In this sense, Zúñiga specified that the homicide would have occurred after the detainees went to the place to buy a mobile phone that was published in a virtual store, where they were assaulted.

“As a result of this, they return the next day, directly with the purpose of exacting revenge for what happened the day before, causing the death of the minor,” explained the subprefect.

The vehicle used for this crime, drugs kept by one of the accused, cash and the weapon possibly used, which is being subjected to expert reports, were seized.

Alfredo Cerri, prosecutor of the Team against Organized Crime and Homicides (ECOH), explained that as a result of arrest and entry and search orders authorized by the Second Guarantee Court of Santiago, these three people were arrested in the early morning hours.

“What happens in this case is that they are going to be formalized for the crime of qualified homicide, in this case for a premeditation that they carried out, added to the circumstance that the victim is 13 years old, the penalty that they would risk according to the new legislation would be perpetual imprisonment, simple at least,” he said.

The prosecutor delved into the thesis of revenge against the wrong person after a failed purchase.

“What happens here is that these people, who were the perpetrators of the homicide, would have gone to purchase a cell phone in the informal market, and would have interacted with minors. Because this transaction would not have taken place, these people devised a way to get revenge, and when they went to the place the next day, as a result of this plan, they shot this minor, who had nothing to do with this robbery, and that is why this homicide occurs,” he explained.
