The old adage goes that any publicity is good publicity.
One of the hosts of the “Utah Football Fans Podcast’ is generating plenty of negative attention for his dismissive comments about Colorado football and quarterback Shedeur Sanders before the Buffaloes’ Week 1 win over TCU.
When asked by his co-host what Sanders had done to deserve some of the hype he was getting, the man mockingly said he “played at a JUCO with his daddy.”
Jackson State, of course, is not a JUCO, but an HBCU program at the FCS level with a strong tradition.
“This is the insane commentary from media types that Colorado coach Deion Sanders and Shedeur Sanders had to deal with before the TCU game,” said Clarence Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star Telegram. “He called Jackson State, home of Walter Payton, a JUCO. And some people were upset that they took it personally.”

“Jackson State has four players in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. That’s twice as many as the University of Utah,” said O.J. Spivey of The Philadelphia Tribune.

“Referring to Jackson State University, an HBCU founded 145 years ago, as a junior college like JSU hasn’t been in the sports news cycle for 2 years now, just shows that anyone with a microphone budget isn’t automatically informed & worth listening to,” said Mike Taddow of MavsMoneyBall.

“Seems like once a season there’s a U of U podcast that gets absolutely dragged, here’s this seasons,” another commenter chimed in.

“Disrespecting HBCU’s and Coach Prime. Classy stuff,” a Colorado fan added.
