Owners of Proper No. 12 remove Conor McGregor from its marketing

Owners of Proper No. 12 remove Conor McGregor from its marketing

The owners of Proper No. 12 whiskey are the latest ones to cease an association with Conor McGregor following last week’s civil verdict.

The Irish Independent reports that Proximo Spirits, who purchased the whiskey company three years ago from McGregor, will no longer use his name or image in its marketing.

“Since 2021, Proximo Spirits has been the 100pc owner of Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey,” it said. “Going forward, we do not plan to use Mr. McGregor’s name and likeness in the marketing of the brand.”

The report added that many store chains were removing the drinks with links to McGregor.

This comes after IO Interactive stated that McGregor’s image and likeness were being removed from its ‘Hitman’ video game where McGregor is a playable character. In a statement, IO confirmed that it was ending its collaboration with McGregor effective immediately.

Last Friday, a jury found McGregor civilly liable in a sexual assault case where the UFC fighter was accused of raping Nikita Hand in a hotel in December 2018 and ordered to pay damages of approximately $258,000 U.S.

The parties are scheduled to return to court this Thursday to determine the allocation of legal fees to be paid. After the decision was rendered, McGregor posted to X that he would appeal the decision and continued to maintain that the sexual encounter was consensual.
