This Monday, March 6, 2023 begins, at the assizes of Mayenne, the trial of a man tried for a murder committed on January 19, 2021 in Changé.
The family company of which the victim is the manager aims to build pavilions, to find tenants for future owners and to ensure the payment of rents to them. Originally from Montenay and residing in Etrelles (Ille-et-Vilaine)the manager, Francis, decided that day to go to Changé despite the curfew imposed by the Covid, because one of the tenants has not paid his dues. The sexagenarian arrives on site around 7 p.m. and drums on the door of 5 rue de Sirocco.
The couple are about to separate
Inside are Kevin, the future murderer, then 29 years old, his partner and his two children and finally the brother of Madame who, homeless at that time, joined the accommodation of the two cohabitants. The three adults are discussing the rent, unpaid, and a possible distribution, or the change of tenant since Madame’s brother has imposed himself and the couple is about to separate.

Kevin gets up to open the door and suddenly finds himself face to face with Francis who reproaches him for not answering the phone and declares to him that he will not leave the premises without obtaining a check for 850 euros corresponding to the sums due. Quickly the tone rises between the two men. The young accused goes into the kitchen, grabs a knife and strikes several fatal blows to his visitor.
The victim quickly succumbed to his injuries. and the murderer surrenders without difficulty to the police who arrived a few minutes later.
A traumatic childhood
The first day of the trial is devoted to the hearing of the witnesses present during the tragedy which confirm in almost the same way the chronology of the facts already described at length by the director of the investigation.
The hearing of the accused as well as those of the expert psychiatrist give a glimpse of a childhood with a traumatic journey. The young thirty-year-old was raped by a cousin and suffered violence from a father who, in an accident caused by his own falling asleep, injured his son for life. The child will thus be the victim of the marital conflicts of his parents sometimes with one, sometimes with the other or even in a foster family. Kevin will also be the victim of racism and mockery consequences of his infirmity. He will say to the personality investigator: “I see my life as an endless ordeal. »
A moment of “panic”
The facts are never disputed by the accused who can only explain his action by a “panic” in a moment when he does not remember anything.
This Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at the end of the second day of the trial, the court, which is made up of eight women around a president, will have to rule on the guilt of the accused. and determine the prison sentence.
