Oscar Isaac and Ana de Armas have been tapped to star in David O. Russell’s Apple TV+ drama Bananas.
Per Deadline’s report, the high-profile series has been created by Orange in the New Black and Narcos Carolina Paiz, who has written a story set against the backdrop of banana republics, hence the title, a term that relates to a small politically unstable state, usually found in areas such as Central America. Oscar Isaac and Ana de Armas will both star in and executive produce the series.
Bananas will see Isaac return to the small screen following successful ventures in Disney+ series Moon Knight and HBO’s critically-acclaimed Scenes from a Marriage, while it will mark the English-Language series debut for Ballerina star de Armas.
Next up for the five-time Oscar nominated Russell is his Nicolas Cage-headlined John Madden biopic for Amazon MGM Studios.
