No one has stayed here yet. The lucky ones will experience the first night of the Olympics at the Orsay Museum

No one has ever spent the night here, and soon no one will. For one night only this July, the room next to the great clock of the Orsay Museum in Paris will be transformed into a hotel room. Specifically, the lucky couple will spend the night here from July 26 to 27, i.e. the date when the Summer Olympics begin in Paris. The event was prepared on the occasion of the opening of the Olympic Games by the AirBnB portal offering accommodation. The lodgers will be drawn by lottery.

Café life and historical monuments are what tourists appreciate most about Paris. Pictured is the Musée d’Orsay, a museum that was created in a former railway station.

It used to be a busy train station. The first trains stopped here in 1900, when the station was opened on the occasion of the World Exhibition in Paris, and then passengers headed to the carriages here daily for the next forty years. When it finished serving as a travel hub, it did not fall into disrepair or be replaced by a more modern building. Instead, in the mid-1980s, the Paris Orsay train station was transformed into a renowned art gallery that still attracts thousands of tourists today.

In the Musée Orsay, a converted station hall, people now admire the greatest treasures of Impressionism. “Light streaming through gigantic glass ceilings bathes the Impressionist and Post-Impressionist masterpieces that line its walls, including those by Cezanne, Monet, Degas, Renoir, Van Gogh and more,” the website mentions Paris Pass.

Paris’s Eiffel Tower welcomed its first visitors 135 years ago as part of the World’s Fair at the time:

And it was in this wonderful space, specifically in the room by one of the two giant clocks that dominate the facade of the building, on the opening night of this year Summer Olympics in Paris two lucky winners will sleep over.

He will see the opening of the Olympics from the balcony

He prepared the option in cooperation with the organizers Olympics AirBnB portal. The drawn couple will spend the night in the museum from July 26 to 27. “From the balcony of the room, which overlooks the Seine, these two travelers will be able to watch Olympic opening ceremony“, he points out Smithsonian Magazine.

Those interested can apply for an overnight stay from May 21 on AirBnB. The price is not yet known. When sending a room reservation request, travelers must state the reason why they want to sleep in the unique space. They must also have an active AirBnB account and download the company’s app. “First, we randomly select a group of possible guests. Then we evaluate their answers. We will then invite selected guests to make a reservation,” the AirBnB site explains the selection.

Private tour of paintings

The room next to the clock of the Orsay Museum was turned into a hotel room by the French designer Mathieu Lehanneur, who also designed the torch for the 2024 Summer Olympics. The room is dominated by a large double bed, the walls and floor are wooden. “I have created a unique space that is both romantic and contemporary, intimate yet luxurious,” highlights Lehanneur.

Game fans will once again find facilities and comfort in the Czech House:

Kejval believes there will be something to celebrate in the Czech House before the Olympics. He also invites you to a beer tour

Sleeping in a unique space and having the best view of the opening ceremony will not be the only experiences that the lucky couple will take away from Paris. “Guests will also enjoy a private tour of the Musée d’Orsay’s extensive collection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist art, as well as a gourmet dinner featuring the best of French cuisine,” he writes International Olympic Committee website.
