Digital Eclipse has celebrated the festive season with the arrival of a new update for Tetris Forever, there commemoration of the popular game’s 40th anniversary. This new update brings players a brand new game, Welltris, as well as some much requested features.
The new game added to Tetris Forever is Welltris, created by Alexey Pajitnov back in 1989. This more challenging variant of Tetris changes the view of the normal Tetris drop into 3D with the view taken from above. This 3D view allowed there to be four walls in which 2D Tetriminos (and other shapes) would fall down. It was up to players to rotate these shapes to form lines at the bottom.
With this new update, all players are now able to individually remap their controls in Tetris Time Warp. This has been the most requested feature change from players and is sure to be a firm favourite for those who play this variant both casually and competitively.
Other improvements include more customisation options such as players being able to remap their controls in Electronika 60, MS-DOS & Apple II games on console.
Digital Eclipse are hoping to continue to expand Tetris Forever with more games and features in the future, whilst also focusing on addressing certain bugs, such as being unable to save or register high scores on some of the classic games, and providing a fix in early January.
Tetris Forever is available on Xbox One and Series X|S, PlayStation 4|5, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam and GOG.
