The Munich fire department rescued a mother duck and her 14 newborn chicks from an airy emergency.
As the emergency services report, the extended family was discovered on the roof terrace of an office building.
According to the fire department, the mother duck had not considered how she could reach the nearest body of water with her offspring, who were unable to fly.
The “probably somewhat inexperienced young mother duck” had moved into a nest there and bred around a month ago. “Visibly nervous,” she looked for a way “how she could move her little ones from the wrong breeding site,” the rescue workers continued.
Since the users of the office building feared that the chicks would fall, they called the fire department.

“With a lot of cunning and skill” they managed to capture the entire family. “The subsequent procession had a very noble atmosphere – the duck family now resides safely in the park of Blutenburg Castle.”
