Until now, the Mortainais Forum, in Mortain-Bocage (Manche), temporarily hosted an amateur artist exhibitor. Until April 14, four local artists from Mortainais exhibit their works.

It’s a new format that will become permanent, with a mix of genres. We have chosen this format for those who wish to exhibit together and not alone and those who do not have enough works.

Laurence Colin, director of the structure.

“The objective is to highlight local amateur artists and show the unknown wealth of the territory,” says Hervé Lorier, president of the Solidarity Chain.

Chantal Maillard

Chantal Maillard, retired, has always loved to draw. “I wanted to do Fine Arts but at the time for a girl it was not possible. To occupy myself, I did oil, acrylic and pastel. I have a preference for pastel. I like creativity and originality, according to my encounters. I’m not one to show what I do, that’s who I am. »

Sebastien Lebreton

Sébastien Lebreton, 43, is exhibiting for the first time. “I took drawing lessons again thanks to my wife. Drawing I was told that I was not going to make it my job. He has been using graphite criterium and for the past two years acrylic for his canvases. He started portrait drawing in 2019, at Pascale Nouailhat’s studio, where he takes lessons every Tuesday evening.

“I always drew from the age of 10. Comics, the manga universe, comics and animated films have always interested me. Drawing gives me a way to escape, it propels me into an imaginary world, I remain a bit of a child. »

Denis Lambin

Denis Lambin, 64, started photography in 1978 with a film reflex camera. In 1998, he joined the IBM photo club in Lille in order to progress and exchange ideas. “Since 2005, I switched to the digital camera. I have always used digital cameras and graphic software to improve my photos or create images. The best reward is when my images arouse emotion. »

Yvan Surville

Yvan Surville has been painting since the age of 14. “My reference painting remains and will always remain projection or dripping. I put the canvas on the ground, I project the paint. At that point, I already have an idea of what I’m going to do. In general, I work on historical themes. Here, I decided to make series on the human, the mood. I use the way I look at the world around me and the subjects that are close to my heart. The main purpose of my work is to convey emotions. »
