Moment Woman Stops 4 Lanes of Rush-Hour Traffic To Help ‘Stranded’ Animals

A heroic woman’s action to save stranded animals from a busy highway has left viewers stunned and appreciative of her dedication.

While traveling on Connecticut’s I-91 during rush hour, TikTok user @genttttt spotted several ducks walking down the road pinned up against the center barrier. In her July 22 video, she wrote they were “stressed and tired.” The ducks were “stranded” with the endless flow of traffic on either side of them. There was no way for these ducks to get out of the jam safely. That is until she stepped up to take the risk.

She called the non-emergency law enforcement line to have someone come out. With the help of a trooper, they stopped four lanes of traffic. She rushed over to the ducks and started directing them in the right direction. As soon as the mother duck knew they were in the clear, they took off and safely crossed to the grassy area.

The caption reads: “The amount of gratitude I have to have been here at the right to help them.”

When asked how long the rescue took, the woman told Newsweek via TikTok that “it felt like forever.” However, it lasted about a half hour.

Several other calls were made to police about the ducks before the rescue occurred, according to an article from NBC Connecticut. The article also stated state troopers needed to clear the scene twice because the ducks had wandered back into the road.

Animal control has since joined the rescue and relocated the ducks to a safer location.

The rescue video instantly became a hit, bringing in over 288,700 views, 60,500 likes and 4,159 comments. People admitted that rush hour traffic sometimes puts them in a bad mood, but if they saw a rescue like this occur, they would instantly feel better.

“Whenever I get stuck in traffic and there ends up being no reason, I’m going to think maybe it’s a good human just helping some baby animals,” said a TikTok user.

Another added: “If I’m 7 hours late to my once-in-a-lifetime flight to Greece for this… I’M OKAY WITH THAT. GOOD HUMANS.”

A third person said: “You’re absolutely amazing. You made it happen. Ty so much.”
