Lionel Messi made a brilliant move during the Inter Miami game this Sunday (3), but missed the goal when he came face to face with goalkeeper John McCarthy. In the stands, pop star Selena Gomez went viral with her reaction to the number 10’s move and became a topic on the official MLS page; check out:
“Selena Gomez was all of us watching John McCarthy deny Messi,” wrote the profile.
The game ended 3-1 for Inter Miami. Messi didn’t find the net, but he provided two assists and once again stood out in the United States.
The Argentine number 10 has been attracting large audiences in MLS, especially from great American sports stars, such as LeBron James, and also from pop culture. World champion at the end of last year, Messi “zeroed out football” and chose a calmer destination to enjoy the final stretch of his career as a football player.
Months ago, he explained the reason for not returning to Barcelona after leaving PSG: “I really wanted to, I was very anxious to be able to return, but after having gone through what I experienced and the exit I had, I didn’t want to be in the same situation as new: waiting to see what would happen and leaving my future in the hands of someone else”, he highlighted to the Spanish press.
“I heard that they had to sell players or lower players’ salaries, and the truth is that I didn’t want to go through that, nor take the responsibility of obtaining something that had to do with all of that,” Messi clarified.
He spent two seasons at PSG, but didn’t perform as expected and wasn’t happy in Paris, as he himself said in an interview. However, in terms of selection, number 10 lived the best days of his life and, finally, conquered the world.
