It seemed that the waters were beginning to calm around the Norwegian Royal House. According to the country’s press, Marius Borg Hoiby, involved in a police investigation since last August for mistreatment of his current partner and the two previous ones, he had been transferred to the United Kingdom to enter a rehabilitation clinic in order to overcome the addiction problems that he himself revealed when he admitted having committed the attack that started it all, the which took place last August 4. In the last few hours, while Prince Haakon is on an official trip to Jamaica, his case has taken a new turn. The middle V.G. (one of the main ones in the country and who has covered this case from the beginning) has reported that Princess Mette-Marit’s son was arrested this Monday night (something that the police have already confirmed) and that in this case lThe charges that have been brought against him are for rape.
According to the media, which directly quotes police sources, Marius Borg was taken away by a Norwegian police car at 11:12 p.m. from an address near Skaugum, the royal estate where Princes Haakon and Mette-Marit reside. An arrest that would therefore repeat the pattern of the first, that of summoning him outside of royal lands before the legal complication that would imply carrying out a police arrest on lands that belong to the headquarters of the State. At the moment the information available is that Marius is still in police custody and it is unknown if a formal arrest will be requested in the next few hours.
The incident under investigation would have taken place earlier this year at an address in Oslo and involves a new woman in the Marius Case, that is, she is not one of the three who had already filed charges against him for damage and violence in close relationships. “The police prepared a report based on the information that emerged during the ongoing investigation. On November 6, 2024, it was decided to open an investigation into the relationship,” police sources confirmed to the aforementioned media.
‘She is not part of Høiby’s environment,’ says the alleged victim’s lawyer
For now, what has been confirmed is that the son that the future queen of Norway had before marrying Prince Haakon would be accused of violating article 291 letter b of the Norwegian Penal Code, which deals with rape and in whose paragraph b specifies sexual relations with someone who is unconscious or who for other reasons cannot resist the act. VG says that he has tried to contact Marius’s lawyer, Øyvind Bratlien, who has been periodically informing the press of the progress of the investigation, however, at the moment they have not received a response. The one they have spoken to is the lawyer who represents the woman (20 years old) in this latest case, Hege Salomon. “She is having a hard time, she is not part of Høiby’s entourage. She does not know him. The police have opened a case. She has been questioned and is cooperating with the police,” Salomon tells VG.
