On Tuesday and Wednesday, CEA Marcoule hosted the International High School Radiation Protection Meetings. 93 high school students and their teachers from France, Japan and Moldova presented their scientific work on protection against risks linked to radioactivity to the National Institute of Nuclear Sciences and Techniques (INSTN) in Marcoule.
The 2023 edition of these International Meetings enabled groups of French (Audincourt, Bastia, Boulogne-Billancourt, Cherbourg, Clamart, Fontainebleau, Pierrelatte), Japanese and Moldovan high school students to share their scientific research workshops, carried out during the year school with their teachers. Throughout the year, second, first and final year students and their teachers got involved, on a voluntary basis, in scientific activities related to radiation protection, which consists of the protection of humans and its environment against the effects of ionizing radiation. They were supported by experts from the Nuclear Safety Authority, the CEA, the Institute for Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety.

The high school students and their teachers were also able to discover the facilities of the CEA Marcoule as well as the INSTN of Marcoule. The International High School Radiation Protection Meetings aim to develop the scientific culture of young people. They have been organized since 2007 by the Study Center on the Assessment of Protection in the Nuclear Field (CEPN), the Nuclear Safety Authority (ASN), the National Institute for Nuclear Science and Technology (INSTN), the the Institute for Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety (IRSN), the Center for Scientific, Technical and Industrial Culture (CCSTI) of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté and the French Society for Radiation Protection (SFRP).
