Malú has been this week’s guest on the podcast that Vicky Martín Berrocal has on Podium Podcast, where she has opened up about some chapters of his life which I had not talked about until now because “it would have been a media scandal.” The singer has confessed that she suffered eating problems that led you to receive professional help and even to remove all the mirrors he had in his house. It was in 2010, he was 28 years old and he was about to release his album Cold war“, when her obsession grew to “eat less, to be thin, to be physically as she should be.” And she highlighted that: “It got pretty out of hand.”

The 42-year-old artist from Madrid admits that in those moments she threw herself into her profession: “I continued working, I continued with a thousand things, I couldn’t focus on that. That was it, it came and went, until it stopped coming.” Malú says that it has been “a lot of years” that he was “with the ‘yes’ and with the ‘no’. I removed all the mirrors and weights from my house so as not to constantly see my image.” His career in music occupied all of his time, until he realized that his health had to be his priority: “One day I said: ‘That’s it'”.

After a month without sleep, she made the decision to go to a psychiatrist: “I told him that I had had eating disorders. He asked me and I told him that at the time they told me that I was anorexic.” Her diagnosis was different: “You are not anorexic, you have behaviors, but you are not. Because that is forged in another way, much earlier.” From that moment on, the singer changed radically: “I’m not sick, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with me. It’s over. I continued in my dynamic of not weighing myself until today.” And he ends, bluntly: ““My body doesn’t matter to me today, I love it.”
