Lucy Beaumont joked about her ex-husband Jon Richardson ‘disappearing’ in her latest stand-up show, while also revealing her parents are now ‘separating’.

The funnywoman, 41, kicked off the autumn leg of her live stand-up tour at the London Palladium on Friday night and name-checked her former partner and fellow comic – despite recently admitting she was banned from talking about her split by lawyers.

Lucy and Jon, who share a daughter Elsie, eight, shocked fans by announcing their split in April after nine years of marriage.

But according to Hull-born Lucy, the pair remain on good terms.

Her ex Jon, 42, featured in one of her gags on Friday night’s show, which Lucy admitted she should have ‘taken out’ in wake of her split.

Commenting on raising their daughter, Lucy said: ‘I tried to bring her up quite spiritual, because that’s how I was brought up, and I was showing her how you burn sage in the living room to get rid of negative energy.

‘And she said “don’t mummy, daddy will disappear”.’

After howls of laughter from the knowing audience, Lucy quipped: ‘When I wrote that it was a joke but now it sounds like I did.

‘I keep meaning to take it out, but we’re still friends – there’s nothing to worry about.’

Later on in the show, Lucy also made the revelation her parents’ marriage is also over.

She said: ‘My daughter’s had this amazing effect on my mum and dad, they don’t really spend much time together – they’re separating – but now they have weekends together.’

Lucy and Jon, who is a team captain on Channel 4 series 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown, started dating in 2013 after they met each other through friend Roisin Conaty and went on to work together on a number of shows including Meet The Richardsons on Dave.

Neither have spoken openly about their split since announcing their separation – which saw Jon hand over £1.625 million to Lucy for her shares in a company in which they were both listed as directors.

The pair, who have amassed a £6m fortune, released a joint statement which read: ‘After nine years of marriage, we would like to announce that we have separated.

‘We have jointly and amicably made the difficult decision to divorce and go our separate ways.’

Speaking to The Sunday Times last week, Lucy told how she cannot speak about the divorce on instruction from lawyers, but did reflect on the public nature of their marriage.

She said: ‘I don’t regret anything. But equally, [over] this next stage, I am very much keeping my personal life personal.’

Lucy added: ‘I sometimes feel guilty that I talked about my daughter and my marriage, and my mum and my dad.

‘I think partly I was feeling grateful, grateful that I was getting the work, grateful that I was being interviewed, and feeling like I had to sacrifice and share everything.’

Lucy also spoke to OK! Magazine, but was once again remained coy on the break-up.

She said: ‘People might think I should talk about it because we were so public and everyone knew us as a couple, but I won’t, and not because there’s any animosity.

‘We both agreed that while it might be weird for other people not hearing anything about it, we wouldn’t talk about anything to do with the marriage or each other.’

Since the split, fans have unearthed old video clips which suggest the marriage was on the rocks, including one where Lucy admitted she sometimes worries she ‘made a mistake’ marrying Jon as she slammed his stubbornness.

Asked if Lucy had any worries about her ex-husband on his show Ultimate Worrier, she replied: ‘I’ve got a lot. Sometimes I worry that I’ve made a mistake.’

Lucy went on to describe how Jon can’t admit when he’s wrong or has made a mistake.

She added: ‘One thing I think that’s really hard in a marriage is when the other person can’t admit when they’re wrong.

‘[They] can’t say sorry I’ve made a mistake.’

In another old clip shared recently, Lucy jokingly said she didn’t think her marriage with Jon would last for life, two years before they announced their split.

In an unearthed clip of 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown in 2022, Lucy shared her frank view on their marriage, prompting Jon to ask ‘are you breaking up?’

In the footage from the show, host Jimmy Carr asked Lucy: ‘What made you decide to settle?’

To which the comedian replied: ‘I don’t see this for life, isn’t there a song Just Passing Through? A season, a reason or a lifetime.

‘You meet in your life old souls, new souls, a***holes. ‘Before Jon I’d never had an avocado. We’ve had a lovely life together. We’ve had a daughter.

‘Who knows what will happen in the future.’

A stunned Jon asked: ‘Are you breaking up now?’ before putting his head in his hands.

Lucy replied: ‘We have a lovely daughter so it has been worth it.’
