Lehečka has already rubbed off and is settling among the stars. I lost my shyness, he admitted

Breaking point. For Jiří Lehečka, this represents a prestigious tournament in Madrid. The Czech youngster defeated the clay king and Spanish idol Rafael Nadal at the Caja Magica and over the former world number one Daniil Medvedev reached the semi-finals of the 1000 Masters for the first time in his career. And if he also knocks out Félix Auger-Aliassimo, he will take a first look at the world top 20 of the ATP ranking.

He returned from a tour of American concretes murdered. Jiří Lehečka he had to postpone the start of the clay part of the season due to pain. After recovering, he returned to the courts reborn. The 22-year-old native of Mladá Boleslav is experiencing the ride of a lifetime in Madrid. For the first time in his career, he reached the semifinals of the Masters series tournament.

“I think I came back in a different way after my back injury. I tried to focus more on the quality and intensity of all training. I tried to work hard in preparation for this week. And I think I felt good from the first day I came here. I got used to the conditions here,” described Lehečka after progressing to the semifinals.

“Honestly, it’s a great feeling. Playing my first clay tournament of the year, the 1000 Masters, and being in the semi-finals is just amazing for me. It’s something I’ve wanted for a long time after last year, when I didn’t do very well at the Masters events,” admitted Lehečka.

Jannik Sinner.

How could they not see it? Sinner lost the 1000 final due to a huge mistake

The talented youngster has already rubbed off on the tour and lost excessive respect. He demonstrated it in the round of 16 with the departing Spanish legend Rafa Nadal. “I don’t want to say that I was a bit shy to play my best tennis. But I gained important experience that helped me in matches like against Rafa and similar opponents,” he confided in an interview for the website ATP.

He has stepped into the elite twenty

Lehečka’s maximum so far in the Master series tournaments was the quarterfinals of this year’s Indian Wells, where he was stopped by Jannik Sinner, the world number two. In Madrid, he has already made his way into the top eight. He won the opening set 6:4 over Daniil Medvedev, then the Russian, who was indisposed to his health, gave up the match.

“Such matches are never easy. If I had to pick a way to win a match, it wouldn’t be this way. Of course, it’s not easy to see how your opponent is struggling, but you have to stay focused and always try to get the most out of yourself,” recounted Lehečka, who won over Spanish viewers with a message he wrote on the TV camera after the victory: Get well soon, Daniil.

Lehečka will battle Félix Auger-Aliassim for the most valuable final of his career on Friday evening. He met a year older Canadian at the Australian Open last year and won in four sets.

American tennis talent Darwin Blanch.

“I am happy that after this year’s Indian Wells I managed to play well in the next Masters tournament as well. The first semi-final is a very important milestone for me,” admitted Lehečka.

If he makes it to the finals, he will climb to 20th place in the rankings, he has never been this high. The first title at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament would then catapult him to 17th place in the world.
