Lee Cronin to direct new Mummy movie from New Line

Lee Cronin to direct new Mummy movie from New Line

The Mummy is a franchise Hollywood will never give up on. A new rendition of the iconic movie monster will unwrap in a new Lee Cronin and New Line film.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Cronin will write and direct The Mummy. Atomic Monster, Blumhouse, and Cronin’s banner Doppelgängers are producing. Check out the announcement below.

We know little about the plot, and the details are locked away tightly in a sarcophagus. Cronin plans to revive this timeless story after Universal famously released three major installments across three different generations. We’ve also seen a Mummy used in countless other projects, like Hammer Horror’s The Mummy (1959), Monster Squad, and Hotel Transylvania.

Lee Cronin is best known for his work on New Line’s Evil Dead Rise, which became a hit for the long-running franchise and grossed nearly $150 million worldwide.

“This will be unlike any Mummy movie you ever laid eyeballs on before,” he reveals in a statement with THR. “I’m digging deep into the earth to raise something very ancient and very frightening.”

This new Mummy is set for an April 17, 2026 release.
